לא חשכח מפי זרעו

The Torah won't be forgotten from their seed

We were kind of dejected last night as there was rain and also weren't in a position to join the hadlaka downtown. So we were overjoyed to hear the nigun of R' Shimon and were able to join a small hadlak at bais Emanuel. We thought as it was young children the possuk in haazinu describes things best.

We found a truly complete article at JNS>org on the meaning (at our lower level of understanding), entitled

From Caves to Shaves.

There are awesome videos online of the events at Meron, unfortunately, some of the videos seemed to em to be very commercialized  - the opposite intention of the whole event.

What I've ehard is that the days between Pesach and Shevuos are supposed to be like chol hamoed, a time of preperation for kabbalas torah.

The students f Rabbi Akiva soemhow didn't apprecaiate the kovod - the honour of torah, at this auspicous time of destruction , especailly. So they perished .When their deaths stopped,it signalled the end of the decree , so that original light could shine.

so too, with R' Shimon, the main talmid of R' Akiva; his light was especially given over for perpetuity on his death.

be joyful ,oh Israel!
